Course Description

This live continuing education webinar is designed to enhance the periodontal case presentation skills of dental professionals through the clinical application of PerioProtect® Tray Therapy and the Gum Score™ gingival assessment system, with a strong emphasis on the importance of early diagnosis and management of gingival inflammation as it relates to systemic health.

Participants will explore how standardized gingival scoring can be used to identify inflammatory patterns, communicate disease risk, and visually demonstrate the need for timely periodontal intervention. Special attention will be given to the relationship between gingival inflammation, periodontal biofilm, and systemic conditions such as cardiovascular disease, highlighting the dental professional’s role in recognizing inflammatory burden and supporting whole-body health.

The course will focus on translating Gum Score findings into patient-centered language that connects oral inflammation to broader health outcomes, strengthening the perceived value of care. Emphasis will be placed on developing structured periodontal case presentations that support individualized treatment planning and improve acceptance of PerioProtect tray therapy as a non-invasive adjunct to periodontal care.

Participants will also learn practical methods for integrating Gum Score assessments into clinical workflows, improving documentation, and coaching patients toward long-term compliance through visual and data-driven education

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:

  1. Explain the clinical purpose of the Gum Score gingival assessment system and its role in identifying gingival inflammation and periodontal risk.
  2. Discuss the relationship between gingival inflammation and systemic conditions, including cardiovascular disease, and describe the importance of early periodontal intervention.
  3. Incorporate Gum Score findings into a structured periodontal case presentation that supports the clinical rationale for PerioProtect tray therapy.
  4. Demonstrate patient communication strategies that improve understanding of oral-systemic links and increase acceptance of tray-based periodontal therapy.
  5. Identify methods for integrating Gum Score assessments into routine clinical workflows to improve consistency in documentation, education, and long-term periodontal monitoring.
