DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Patient screening procedures: assessment of oral health conditions, review of health history, oral cancer screenings, dental and periodontal charting
- Take necessary radiographs
- Remove calculus and plaque from all surfaces of teeth
- Apply preventative materials to teeth (sealants and fluoride)
- Educate patient with the appropriate oral hygiene strategies for home care to maintain good oral health (brushing, flossing, nutritional counseling)
- Thoroughly chart, document and update patients’ condition, treatment plan, and medical history
- Develop and execute a philosophy of practice for our patients
- Educate patients with home care techniques
- Assist front office with various duties including: making patient phone calls, scheduling treatment, filing etc.
- Thoroughly clean and maintain operatories
- Manage sterilization area
- Sharpen instruments every 2 to 3 weeks
- Assist Doctor as requested with treatment
- Pour dental models
- Meet continuing education requirements
- Spore testing for autoclaves
- Assist other Hygienist with periodontal charting
- Appeal rejected claim with insurance carrier as requested
- Send (via e-mail, through Curve) appropriate treatment videos
- Consistently working towards improving production (insuring recare appointments are scheduled appropriately, actively assisting front office in calling overdue patients
- Making next day follow-up calls to SRP patients
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
- Graduate from accredited school of Dental Hygiene
- State Certification in Dental Hygiene
- Qualified in local anesthesia to administer local anesthetic
- CPR certification
- Meet CE requirements
- Excellent clinical and communication skills
- Excellent patient interaction skills
- Excellent treatment presentation skills
- Knowledge of practice management and imaging computer programs
